In August 2026, a small group of American Muslim leaders and practitioners involved in different dimensions of dawah gathered in Chicago for a private National Dawah Summit.

The purpose was not to launch another national organization or impose one model of dawah.

Participants explored a larger question:
What would it take for sharing Islam to become a mission carried more broadly across American Muslim life?

The gathering examined what is working, where gaps remain, what should continue to be led by specialized dawah organizations, and what the wider Muslim community could increasingly own.

What emerged

A shared 2050 vision
A long-term picture of mosques as bridges, Muslims as ambassadors, and Islam becoming a positive and authentic part of America's public conversation.

Broader ownership
Recognition that sharing Islam should increasingly engage the wider Muslim community while respecting the expertise and role of specialized dawah organizations.

A simple way for organizations and leaders to support a shared direction while contributing differently.

A wider invitation
A decision to invite additional organizations, mosques, scholars, practitioners and leaders into the conversation.

The summit was a starting point—not the owner of the vision.
The people and organizations in the original room hold no special permanent status. As participation grows, organizations, mosques and leaders who join later stand alongside those who participated earlier.

The future of this effort should be shaped by those willing to affirm the vision, contribute meaningfully and help carry it forward.
